Samyang Foods has embarked on its first overseas production venture by commencing construction of a factory in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China, as part of its strategy to expand its global footprint.

On July 3, Samyang Foods held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Samyang Foods (Zhejiang) Jiaxing Plant' located on Majabang Road, China. The event was attended by over 100 executives and staff, including CEO Kim Dong-chan, Samyang Round Square CEO Jang Seok-hoon, and Consul General Kim Young-jun from Shanghai, marking the official start of construction.

The Jiaxing plant will cover a land area of 55,043 square meters and a total floor space of 58,378 square meters, featuring three stories and six production lines. With a total investment of 201.4 billion won, Samyang Foods aims to produce up to 840 million units of its popular Buldak Bokkeum Myun (Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen) annually at this facility.

Scheduled for completion in January 2027, all products manufactured at the Jiaxing plant will serve the Chinese domestic market. Samyang Foods is set to enhance its market strategy in China by aligning product offerings with local consumer preferences and through localized marketing efforts.

The Jiaxing facility will incorporate a quality management system adhering to international standards. In abiding by China's food safety laws, the plant will also seek certifications such as the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC22000), ISO 22000 for food safety management, and ISO 14001 for environmental management, aiming to elevate standards in food safety, environmental management, and employee health.

With the establishment of this new factory, Samyang Foods will possess a total of five production bases, including four existing sites in Korea (Wonju, Iksan, and Miryang). Upon completion, the company's total annual production of Buldak Bokkeum Myun is projected to reach 3.52 billion units. Korean factories will continue to cater to demand in the Americas and Europe, while the Jiaxing plant will focus exclusively on the Chinese domestic market.

A Samyang Foods representative stated, "China accounts for 25% of our total export volume and is a key market where the Buldak brand enjoys high recognition and preference. Jiaxing is an optimal location for the factory due to its excellent accessibility to our Chinese sales subsidiary, Samyang Foods Shanghai Co., Ltd."

In his commemorative address, CEO Kim Dong-chan emphasized, "Samyang Foods strives to be more than just a purveyor of delicious food; we aim to connect cultures. Our goal is to unite people through taste, share happiness at the dining table, and grow as a comprehensive food company alongside society."
