Daesang Corporation participated in the world's largest food technology exhibition, IFT Food Expo 2025, held from July 14 to 16 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The company highlighted a broad lineup of high-performance specialty ingredients, demonstrating its technological competitiveness in the global market, according to a statement released on July 17.
IFT Food Expo, organized by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), is a premier international event in the food technology industry. This year, over 1,200 companies from more than 90 countries and more than 20,000 food industry professionals and buyers participated. Daesang, attending for the second consecutive year, focused on solutions for healthy foods such as umami, low-salt, and low-sugar products. Through live demonstrations, the company effectively showcased the functionality and distinctiveness of its products, attracting significant attention from visitors.
Among the key products was ‘Sweevero,’ a sugar substitute brand launched last year. The flagship product, Allulose, is a rare sugar naturally present in small quantities in nature. It offers a sweet taste similar to sugar but has almost no calorie content because it is minimally metabolized in the body. This aligns with current consumer trends emphasizing health and weight management, positioning Allulose as a next-generation sweetener in the global market.
Based on this, Daesang has established a dedicated manufacturing facility in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, and is actively pursuing global expansion into markets including North America, Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
The company also introduced the ‘NAMINO®’ series of natural flavor-enhancing ingredients and ‘Dsavory,’ a flavor boosting material. ‘NAMINO’ is a natural umami enhancer that can reduce sodium intake by up to 30%, aligning with clean label and vegan trends, and received high interest. For example, ‘NAMINO UH’ provides rich umami from the beginning of cooking, while ‘NAMINO LH’ offers a clean finish, providing versatility for various culinary applications. All these products have obtained FEMA-GRAS certification from the U.S. FDA, ensuring safety and quality.
Additionally, the plant-based emulsifier ‘Emulaid’ drew attention among attendees. Emulaid is an eco-friendly solution that substitutes animal-derived emulsifiers like egg whites and casein. It is suitable for developing vegan foods and products free from allergic ingredients, while also offering excellent protection of active ingredients such as omega-3, vitamins, and flavors, enhancing stability and preservation. Its applications include coffee creamer, salad dressings, and plant-based beverages.
Lee Hyo-hoon, head of Daesang’s Material Marketing Division, stated, “Participating in IFT 2025 was a meaningful opportunity to share Daesang's advanced ingredient technologies with global food experts and to communicate more closely with local markets.”
