Amorepacific has announced significant scientific advancements in skin aging and immune response improvement through the ‘New Beauty Research Initiative’ (NBRI), a joint program with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The research findings were presented last week at the 2025 American Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Conference held in San Diego, USA.
Since 2022, Amorepacific has been collaborating with Johns Hopkins dermatology experts under the NBRI program to conduct ongoing joint research. During the conference, two proprietary ingredients demonstrated notable efficacy. Professor Anna Chien's team reported that ‘Red Flavonoid,’ a bioflavonoid extracted from camellia, effectively improved signs of photoaging, including wrinkles, skin texture, pores, radiance, and pigmentation.
Notably, significant improvements in skin texture and radiance were observed from the eighth week of product use. The study analyzed long-term results over six months in consumers from diverse racial backgrounds across North America, revealing that the ingredient blocks aging-related signal pathways and inhibits collagen damage.
Meanwhile, Professor Martin Alphonse’s team demonstrated that ‘Senomune,’ a green tea-derived saponin, effectively mitigates immune cell damage and inflammation caused by environmental pollutants like fine dust. Based on experiments using human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), pre-treated cells showed reduced stress responses and maintained immune metabolism balance. These results suggest that Senomune may help alleviate immune aging and chronic inflammation triggered by external environmental stressors.
Sung-Bi Hwi, CTO of Amorepacific R&I Center, stated, “NBRI represents a core research initiative focused on extending healthy skin life for consumers globally. It provides crucial scientific validation for our Decelerated Aging technology. Moving forward, we aim to develop fundamental solutions that enhance skin’s self-healing and regenerative capabilities, surpassing basic symptom relief.”
Amorepacific plans to further leverage NBRI to explore new frontiers in skin science and strengthen its global competitiveness in the beauty and healthcare markets.
