Hyundai Rotem announced that it is making its first global showcase of its core electric vehicle (EV) component manufacturing equipment, marking a significant step into the international metal forming market.

From June 17 to 20, Hyundai Rotem is participating in the ‘2025 China International Metal Forming Exhibition (MetalForm China 2025)’ held in Shanghai. Recognized as Asia’s largest metal forming trade show, the event gathers the latest technologies and equipment across various metal processing sectors, including forging, pressing, and sheet metal forming.

At the exhibition, Hyundai Rotem will focus on its high-speed, high-precision press solutions tailored for the EV market in China, one of the world’s leading EV manufacturing hubs. Key displays include the ‘Stacked Press,’ a critical equipment for producing motor cores integral to electric vehicle performance, and a ‘Battery Can High-Speed Press Line’ used to produce external casing for cylindrical batteries.

The stacked press is designed for manufacturing high-efficiency motor cores by precisely stacking thin steel sheets, an essential process affecting EV driving performance. Hyundai Rotem explains that this equipment can perform up to 300 high-speed press cycles per minute, combining both high precision and production efficiency. The company will also display actual motor core samples to visually demonstrate the manufacturing process.

The battery can high-speed press, meanwhile, produces the external casing for 4680 cylindrical batteries used in EVs. Capable of forming up to 1,200 battery cans per minute, the equipment includes integrated cupping and redraw processes optimized for mass production.

In addition to these core tools, Hyundai Rotem plans to introduce a broad lineup of equipment—including servo presses, mechanical presses, and specialized forming presses—to expand its engagement with leading global automakers and battery manufacturers attending the event.

A Hyundai Rotem spokesperson stated, “This exhibition marks our first opportunity to introduce our EV manufacturing technologies to the overseas market. We will continue to develop advanced equipment and strengthen our position as a key partner in the next-generation EV industry.”
