KT announced on June 24 that it will participate in the ‘Quantum Korea 2025’ event, held at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, from June 24 to 26. The event is Korea’s premier quantum technology exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This marks KT’s third consecutive year participating in Quantum Korea. Under the theme “Quantum – Connecting the Future,” KT will showcase an overview of quantum cryptography, application cases, and future prospects for quantum communication.
At the event, KT will display its proprietary technologies, including hybrid quantum cryptography dedicated lines and quantum VPN (Virtual Private Network). Notably, the hybrid quantum cryptography communication combines Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), applying quantum security across all network layers, including transmission and access networks. KT has organized the exhibition to give visitors an intuitive understanding of quantum communication devices, demonstrating how quantum encryption can operate reliably even in the face of hacking threats.
Additionally, KT will exhibit a range of quantum cryptography devices developed in collaboration with 14 domestic and international partners. KT has been actively transferring its quantum technologies to leading Korean tech companies and collaborating closely to expand quantum cryptography’s base with purely domestic technology. Currently, the company holds 15 core patents related to quantum cryptography.
The company will also showcase various application examples of quantum cryptography across sectors such as public safety, defense, industry, finance, and healthcare. Notable cases include the military quantum cryptography project based on 5G, inter-operation testing of heterogeneous quantum cryptography communication between Seoul and Busan, Shinhan Bank’s hybrid quantum security network, and AI-driven medical data encryption at the National Cancer Center.
Furthermore, during the conference sessions, KT will present its proprietary technology development efforts, initiatives to expand Korea’s quantum cryptography ecosystem, as well as various successful demonstration results. The company will also share its vision for the future quantum internet era.
Jem Joon Myung, Director of the Service Product Business Division at KT Enterprise, stated, “KT has been a leading driver in the advancement of domestic quantum cryptography technology. We will continue to prepare for industry-wide applications and actively foster the quantum ecosystem through collaborations with various partners.”
