The Embassy of Morocco in Seoul hosted a presentation/networking reception under the theme “Morocco-Sustainable Hub for Investment and Trade” at the Grand Hyatt in Seoul on November 28 with the distinguished presence of Karim Zidane, Minister of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, and Mr. Ali Seddiki, CEO of the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency.
Chafik Rachadi, the Moroccan ambassador to Korea, stated in his welcome remarks that Morocco and Korea have been blood brothers fighting together against North Korea during the Korean War (1950-1953) even though the two nations established diplomatic ties in 1962. He stressed Morocco’s unique position as a gateway to business, bridging Africa, Europe, and the Middle East with its extensive network of Free trade agreements with 55 countries and 180 global ports.
Karim Zidane, Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, emphasized in his greeting remarks the outstanding reforms Morocco has achieved under the strong leadership of King Mohammed V1. “Morocco has emerged as a modernized, diversified economy equipped with world-class infrastructure like Africa’s first high-speed rail system and one of the continent’s largest automotive manufacturing hubs. He welcomed Korean companies to explore Morocco’s potential in automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy sectors and emphasized Morocco’s stable business environment, low-cost energy, and competitive labor force.
On behalf of the Korean government, Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo urged the urgency of a broader partnership agreement to establish a concrete framework for trade and investment between the two nations. He also acknowledged Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, a project expected to create huge demand for the development of infrastructure and foreign investment.
Vice President Ghita Lahlou of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) mentioned that Morocco strongly desires cooperation with Korea in industrial sectors such as aerospace, automobiles, and green energy.
The presentation ended with two testimonials by Korean businesses, Hands
Corporation and Yura Corporation demonstrated their successful presence in Morocco, followed by a networking reception with beautiful melodies by a Korean traditional instrument trio.
