Com2uS has released a behind-the-scenes video of the development process for their highly anticipated MMORPG, "The Starlight," which is developed by Game Tales and published by Com2uS, on July 14.
The video is available on the official YouTube channel, featuring key production team members including the originator and Executive Director Jeong Seong-hwan, Art Director Jeong Jun-ho, Music Director Nam Gu-min, and Sound Director Jeong Ji-hong. They provide detailed insights into the game's core systems, design philosophy, and content structure.
"The Starlight" is set against the backdrop of chaos and events unfolding across the continent of "Meyersotis," and tells the story of five heroes summoned from different worlds. For the first time, the video reveals character-immersive design: depending on the hero chosen, NPC dialogues and storylines vary, with unique quests and cinematic sequences tailored to each storyline, allowing players to experience different narratives even in similar situations.
The video also introduces PvP content, including a castle siege and a separate battle royale mode. The battle royale mode features exploration, buff acquisition, boss battles, and strategic combat, with collision physics applied in certain zones to enable tactical attacks and cooperative combat. Areas free of collision obstacles provide a smooth movement and hunting experience, enhancing immersion.
A key element in immersing players further is the game's sophisticated sound design. Details such as weather changes, terrain, and background environment sounds are carefully reflected, creating a realistic spatial atmosphere. Footsteps and water sounds differ based on movement direction and ground texture. During battles, weapon-specific sound effects are carefully balanced to maximize impact and immersion, with extensive testing achieving powerful, immersive combat sounds.
The video also highlights the unique personalities of each hero, their backstories, the design of avatars and mounts, and detailed artwork, all of which further heighten excitement for the game.
Currently, "The Starlight" is available for pre-registration through the official website, as well as on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Kakao Games platform. Pre-registrants are eligible to win physical prizes such as the LG StanbyMe 2, and all pre-registrations across channels will be rewarded with additional benefits, including custom PCs and pure gold bars.
The game is targeted for release in Q3 2023.
