Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace's Australian branch have teamed up with Australian electronics and communications firm GME to actively participate in the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) next-generation military communications development project, known as 'LAND 4140.'

LAND 4140 aims to modernize the ground command and control communications environment of the Australian Army, providing a multi-layered networking and communications system for the next-generation C4 system of the Australian military.

The three companies announced the signing of a related collaboration agreement, known as a Teaming Agreement, on March 26 at the Avalon Airshow taking place in Geelong, Australia.

Hanwha Systems plans to leverage its C4I solutions and command and communications system development capabilities to actively explore various business opportunities within the Australian market in collaboration with GME and Hanwha Aerospace's Australian branch.

C4I stands for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers, serving as the brain and mouthpiece of weapon systems in battlefield situations.

GME, with over 60 years of experience, is a leading Australian company specializing in electronics, communications, and antennas, boasting a strong local production base. There are high expectations for synergy between Hanwha Systems' 40 years of defense equipment manufacturing experience and its diverse capabilities in areas such as C4I, electro-optics, radar, and avionics.

Additionally, Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace's Australian branch signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Australian software company Visionary Machines on March 25. Visionary Machines comprises experts in AI and computer vision—technology that extracts information from images—as well as robotics, positioning itself as a specialist in vision systems for both civilian and defense sectors.

The collaboration between Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Aerospace's Australian branch, and Visionary Machines will focus on areas including C4I systems for Australian military programs, defense electronics and ICT smart solutions, anti-drone system applications for manual detection, and the design and system integration of military vehicles.
