[Vancouver, Canada] The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver, in partnership with the Korean Developers and Designers Association (KDD), successfully hosted the Korean Tech Conference 2024 on 23 November at UBC Robson Square. The event attracted significant interest, with over 200 job seekers and students from the Vancouver area in attendance.
Consul General Jongho Kyun delivered a congratulatory speech during the opening ceremony, highlighting the global trend of increasing investment in AI across various sectors. He noted that this trend is expanding employment opportunities for young people, particularly pointing out the increase in Korean participants in Canada's Working Holiday program. He expressed a strong commitment to actively supporting efforts to enhance employment opportunities for young Koreans.
The conference featured prominent speakers, including Pope Kim, CEO of POCU Academy; Moon Eun-deok, Professor at SFU; Kim Mi-young, Instructor at UBC, Ahn Hye-seon, Software Engineer at Microsoft; Lim Hyun-wook, Google Developer; Choi Da-yeon, Product Designer at PolicyME; and Eric Kim, CEO of Korder. They delivered lectures on various topics, such as AI technology trends, employment and entrepreneurship strategies, and mental health management. Additionally, the event provided job mentoring sessions and networking opportunities for attendees, which were met with great enthusiasm.
The Korean Consulate in Vancouver plans to actively support job seekers by sharing information and strengthening networks in the IT sector and other fields.
