Washington, D.C., July 8, 2025 — The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued refunds totaling over $2.9 million to consumers affected by Ygrene Energy Fund, a home-improvement financing company that was found to have engaged in deceptive sales practices.
The settlement stems from a complaint filed in October 2022, alleging that Ygrene and its contractors misled homeowners about the impact of their financing programs.

According to the FTC, Ygrene’s door-to-door sales agents falsely claimed that securing financing would not affect homeowners' ability to sell or refinance their properties. The complaint also revealed that some contractors employed aggressive tactics, including forgery, to obtain signatures, resulting in liens being recorded without the homeowners’ explicit consent.
As part of the resolution, Ygrene agreed to cease its deceptive practices, implement stricter oversight of its contractors, and pay approximately $3 million to affected consumers with liens on their properties. However, the company’s liens remain valid until paid.
The FTC is distributing payments via checks and PayPal to 960 consumers. Recipients are advised to cash or redeem their payments within designated timeframes—90 days for checks and 30 days for PayPal transfers.
Consumers can contact the refund administrator, Analytics Consulting LLC, at 877-412-1816 or visit the FTC’s website for FAQs and more information. The FTC emphasizes that it does not require or ask for money or account details to process refunds.
This initiative is part of the FTC’s broader efforts, which in 2024 resulted in over $339 million returned to consumers nationwide.
