Hanwha Aerospace has entered into a contract with HSW S.A. (HSW) to supply essential components for Polish Krab Self-Propelled Howitzers.
This agreement underscores Hanwha Aerospace’s commitment to its partnership with the Polish defense industry, a relationship that has been nurtured since 2014.
This latest agreement reinforces Hanwha Aerospace’s dedication to being a trusted partner for Poland's security and defense by ensuring the rapid delivery of equipment and fostering localized industrial cooperation.
The new contract with HSW S.A. focuses on the supply of chassis components for the Krab Self-Propelled Howitzers, marking a significant milestone in the decade-long partnership between the industries. Valued at approximately USD 280 million, the contract outlines the delivery of Krab components from 2026 to 2028 and includes the provision of powerpacks for the SPH Krab, an essential artillery asset for the Polish Armed Forces. The Krab is a 155mm/52-caliber SPH, designed and built in Poland by HSW S.A. with Hanwha’s collaboration.
The contract signing took place at HSW’s headquarters in Stalowa Wola, attended by prominent figures such as Mr. Jaeil Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace; Mr. Wojciech Kędziora, President of the Management Board and General Director of Huta Stalowa Wola S.A.; Mr. Arkadiusz Bąk, President of the Management Board, General Director of PGZ S.A.; Mr. Donghyun Kim, Head of Land Systems Business Group, Hanwha Aerospace; and Mr. Billy Boo-hwan Lee, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Europe.
“About a decade ago, we began our journey together with the first KRAB program,” Mr. Son said during the ceremony. “The success of those 120 units demonstrated not only the integration of technologies from both sides but also became the cornerstone of an ironclad relationship between our two nations.”
Mr. Son added, “Hanwha Aerospace will stand by HSW for the freedom of our countries, leveraging HSW’s world-class facilities and engineering expertise.”
This most recent contract follows previous agreements made in 2014 and renewed in 2023, continuing the strategic collaboration between Hanwha and HSW.
