Professor Jubaek Kim of the AI Metaverse Department at Gangneung Yeongdong University Awarded the Minister of Science and ICT Achievement Medal—Acknowledging the Collaborative Success with DS Academy.

DataStreams, a leading enterprise specializing in Intelligent Data Fabric Platforms, led by Young-sang Lee, Founder and CEO, announced on January 1st that its educational platform, DS Academy, has been recognized as an exemplary model of industry-academic cooperation within the realm of digital transformation (DX and AI) education.

Recently, Professor Jubaek Kim from the AI Metaverse Department at Gangneung Yeongdong University was honored with the Minister of Science and ICT Achievement Medal. This accolade is largely attributed to the close collaboration and educational support provided by DS Academy, which played a significant role in his achievement.

This award signifies recognition of the university’s pioneering efforts in implementing comprehensive digital transformation curricula. In partnership with DataStreams, Gangneung Yeongdong University has jointly developed and executed a systematic curriculum aimed at cultivating talents in AI and Big Data convergence, resulting in notable educational outcomes. In particular, industry-tailored practical training programs delivered through DS Academy have significantly enhanced students' on-the-ground responsiveness and expanded genuine employment opportunities.

Professor Kim expressed, “Our collaboration with DS Academy has been a crucial stepping stone in elevating the quality of digital education at Gangneung Yeongdong University,” adding, “It has provided students with an unparalleled opportunity to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills simultaneously, while offering educators a strong foundation for designing industry-aligned curricula.”

Young-sang Lee, CEO of DataStreams, remarked, “DS Academy is not merely a training platform; it is fundamentally dedicated to cultivating talent across the entire data technology ecosystem and equipping individuals with competencies ready for immediate application in the workforce,” further emphasizing, “We will continue to expand digital transformation education through partnerships with various educational institutions, focusing on data-centric approaches.”

Currently, DS Academy offers a total of nine programs comprising over 50 courses, covering areas such as Data Integration, Governance, and AI Analytics. Through collaborations with universities, public institutions, and private companies, the platform is accelerating efforts to nurture the next generation of digital transformation leaders.

Looking ahead, DS Academy plans to strengthen industry-academic cooperation with universities nationwide, expand industry-specific practical training, and introduce advanced courses in AI and Big Data. The goal is to establish itself as a leading model for digital transformation education. Additionally, through employment-linked programs and integrated online and offline learning environments, the academy aims to enhance participants' practical skills further and support job placement.
