Samsung Heavy Industries announced on May 30 that it will participate in Nor-Shipping 2025, held in Oslo, Norway, from June 2 to June 6. The company plans to showcase its cutting-edge shipbuilding and marine technology, as well as its future competitiveness in the global market.
Nor-Shipping is a leading international exhibition that shares the latest developments and trends across the shipping, offshore, and energy sectors. Marking its 60th anniversary since its inception in 1965, this biennial event will feature approximately 1,000 related companies and organizations from around the world, offering insights into the current state and future prospects of the global shipbuilding industry.
Samsung Heavy Industries CEO and Vice Chairman Choi Sung-an, along with Sales Division Head Oh Seong-il and Vice President Jang Hae-ki of the R&D Division, will personally attend the exhibition. They aim to expand collaborations with major ship owners, classification societies, and global energy firms during the event.
Notably, during Nor-Shipping, Samsung Heavy Industries is set to receive official approval for its next-generation LNG carrier technology that incorporates Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). The company also plans to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding a new LNG carrier with three cargo tanks.
SOFC technology, which converts the chemical energy of fuel directly into electricity with high efficiency and environmental benefits, is gaining attention as a key energy solution for future ships due to its versatility and eco-friendliness.
Jang Hae-ki, Vice President, stated, “Participating in Nor-Shipping will reaffirm Samsung Heavy Industries’ leadership in eco-friendly shipbuilding technologies and its ability to forge strong global partnerships.”
