Aave, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has deployed its Aave V3 on Linea, a Layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution, as of February 11. This deployment leverages Linea's zkEVM technology, marking a strategic expansion for Aave on zero-knowledge-based rollups.
According to Stani Kulechov, the founder and CEO of Aave Labs, this move represents a substantial advancement for both the Aave community and the broader DeFi sector. The integration with Linea aims to offer users faster and more cost-effective transactions, while expanding Aave's user base through the Linea community.
Nicolas Liochon, co-founder of Linea, highlighted the collaboration as a merger of Aave's robust DeFi platform with Linea's advanced scaling capabilities. This partnership aims to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of DeFi, particularly benefiting MetaMask Card users.
Linea's platform offers high throughput and quick transaction finality, reducing wait times and gas fees. Developed originally by Consensys, Linea benefits from its association with notable web3 innovations like MetaMask, providing strong strategic alignment for Aave's deployment.
The deployment allows Linea users access to Aave's diverse suite of decentralized financial tools, with asset listings to be determined through the Aave governance process. This expansion enables Aave to serve a broader audience and enhance its service offerings within the Linea ecosystem.
Aave’s deployment on Linea will be facilitated by BGD Labs, with the Aave DAO committing to redistribute any airdrops from the Linea ecosystem to incentivize user participation. These incentives may include liquidity mining rewards, support for GHO liquidity, and contributions to safety modules. The Aave Chan Initiative (ACI) will manage liquidity mining campaigns related to the deployment.
