Vancouver, Canada: The National Election Commission of South Korea has confirmed that 258,254 overseas voters are registered for the upcoming 21st Presidential Election. Scheduled to occur from May 20 to May 25, the global voting process will take place in 182 overseas missions. This marks a 14.2% increase in overseas voter turnout compared to the 20th presidential election, although it shows a 12.3% decrease from the 19th election.
Breaking down the overseas voter demographics, Asia accounts for the most significant portion, with 128,932 voters (49.9%). The Americas followed with 75,607 voters (29.3%), and Europe had 43,906 voters (17.0%).
The Vancouver Consulate General, led by Consul General Jongho Kyun, has reported a notable increase in registrations, tallying 7,314 overseas absentee and overseas voters. This figure more than doubles the previous 3,140 registrations for the 22nd National Assembly overseas election.
In Canada, two overseas polling stations will facilitate voting: The Vancouver station, located at the Consulate General on West Georgia Street, will operate for six days from May 20 to May 25, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Meanwhile, the Calgary polling site at the Korean Association of Calgary Hall will be open from May 22 to May 24, and it will maintain hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
As the election approaches, the Vancouver Consulate General's Election Commission urges registered voters to participate actively.
