Nongshim announced on June 30 that it will officially introduce Shin Ramyun as a menu item at CUPBOP, its Korean-style franchise store located within Fort Bliss, one of the United States' largest military bases in Texas.
Fort Bliss is home to approximately 170,000 residents, making it one of the largest U.S. military installations. The CUPBOP store within the base will now feature three Nongshim ramen options: Shin Ramyun, Shin Ramyun Tumba, and Sunramyun. These noodles are prepared using instant cooking devices on site, allowing personnel to add toppings such as bulgogi, spicy pork, and dumplings, offering a customizable and authentic Korean ramen experience.
This entry at Fort Bliss marks the beginning of Nongshim’s strategic expansion of its ramen menus across major U.S. military bases. The company plans to gradually introduce Shin Ramyun and other varieties at CUPBOP locations in key military hubs, including JBER in Alaska and Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. The goal is to promote the globally recognized spicy flavor of Shin Ramyun to diverse military personnel from different cultural backgrounds, thereby enhancing the brand’s international recognition.
This collaboration is based on a partnership between Nongshim and CUPBOP, a Korean-American franchise operating over 260 stores in the United States and Indonesia. The franchise also plans to open new locations in Canada and Dubai later this year.
A representative of Nongshim’s U.S. operations stated, “The U.S. military is a multicultural, multi-ethnic community, presenting an excellent opportunity to promote Shin Ramyun’s global popularity,” and added, “Together with CUPBOP, we aim to widely introduce the appeal of K-food centered around Shin Ramyun at key global hubs.”
