Notable immigrant CEOs have had a significant influence on management thinking through their resilience, emphasizing dual strategies of "Know-how" and "Know-where," supported by the American education system and the "3S spirit" (Servant, Share, Service). The study highlights America's preeminence in the global IT sector, with eight of the top ten firms based there. Korea IT Times has restructured Professor Cho's new book and is publishing it as a summarized series.

The spotlight is on Jeff Bezos of Amazon and his innovative and experimental management strategies, exploring the transition from an e-commerce platform to a space exploration company.

Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994, launching as an online bookstore in the midst of the Internet revolution. From its modest beginnings, Amazon expanded its product offerings to include DVDs, music, electronics, and more, evolving into the world's largest e-commerce platform with an extensive array of products. Bezos' innovative ideas and management strategies have propelled Amazon to grow far beyond a simple online store into a global enterprise.

A key business area for Amazon is Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud computing service. Initially developed to optimize Amazon's own data centers, AWS has now become a significant player in the global cloud computing market. It provides corporate clients with stable computing power and storage space and meets diverse needs through data management tools and systems. By incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, AWS delivers tailored solutions that enhance business efficiency.

Experts praise Amazon for its vast product lineup and efficient logistics system in the e-commerce sector. Amazon Prime members enjoy fast and convenient delivery services, which play an important role in strengthening customer loyalty. This efficient logistics system is pivotal in maintaining Amazon’s competitiveness, significantly enhancing customer satisfaction.

Amazon continually creates new services through technological innovation. Its drone-based delivery service, Amazon Prime Air, showcases the potential for automated logistics and quick delivery, while Amazon Go, a cashier-less store, is noted for providing a remarkable shopping experience. These advancements significantly enhance customer experiences and are vital to Amazon's pioneering of new market opportunities.

Nevertheless, Amazon encounters several challenges. Low-profit margins remain a point of concern for management, arising from intense price competition and high operational costs. To increase profitability, Amazon needs to manage costs efficiently and develop new revenue models. Additionally, legal issues associated with antitrust laws and privacy regulations impact Amazon's international business operations.

Amazon's strategy for global market expansion is crucial for identifying future growth opportunities. It endeavors to uphold its influence in developed markets, chiefly the U.S. while striving to secure a new customer base in emerging markets such as Asia and Africa. In these markets, localized services and pricing policies are essential for success. Efforts towards sustainable management further enhance Amazon's image, with environmental conservation activities, such as using renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions, expected to contribute to long-term competitiveness.

Besides being an e-commerce platform, Amazon uses innovative and experimental management strategies to exceed customer expectations, establishing a distinctive position in the global market. Blue Origin, founded by Bezos, is a space exploration company opening the door to commercial space travel possibilities, with expectations of significantly reducing space travel costs through reusable rockets.

Additionally, Amazon pursues innovation in logistics and supply chain management by utilizing artificial intelligence and robotics technology. Thousands of robots automatically manage inventory and package products in warehouses, lowering operational costs and shortening delivery times. This automation system is anticipated to transform future customer experiences innovatively.

Amazon's commitment to social responsibility is also noteworthy. Through the "Amazon Foundation," the company expands investment in STEM education programs and strengthens support for educational and environmental projects. These social contributions exceed profit generation, contributing to creating social value.

In the food delivery service sector, Amazon's innovation is noteworthy. After Whole Foods had been acquired, grocery and fresh food delivery services became a new trend. Services like Amazon Fresh allow customers to easily purchase groceries without visiting a store, increasing consumer convenience and extending Amazon's ecosystem further. Entering the grocery market allows Amazon to connect more closely with customers' everyday lives.

Furthermore, Amazon explores the possibilities of the metaverse and virtual stores. It plans to use virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies to offer customers shopping experiences in virtual environments. This innovation is expected to enhance personalized shopping experiences within online retail, where consumers can try products before purchasing. This highlights Amazon's efforts to expand customer interactions through digital innovation.

Notably, Amazon's ventures into various fields, such as space exploration, artificial intelligence, food delivery services, and metaverse shopping, provide consumers with enhanced value, further solidifying its market position. There is considerable interest in how Amazon will continue to surpass customer expectations and create a new future through technology and innovation.

The next issue will continue with the topic of "Tencent."
