LG CNS, a company specializing in Advanced Transformation (AX), is ramping up its efforts to penetrate the U.S. manufacturing market through a strategic collaboration with global industrial automation leader Honeywell. LG CNS has been named Honeywell’s official partner in the AI and IT services domain, marking the first such partnership for a Korean company and paving the way for its expansion into North America.
On July 21, representatives from LG CNS, including CEO Hyun Shin-kyun, and Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) division president Pramesh Maheshwari, met in Houston, Texas, to agree on a joint development of AI-driven factory automation and intelligence technologies.
Honeywell is a global tech powerhouse with primary business areas in industrial automation, aerospace, and energy. HPS, a key organizational unit within Honeywell, provides process automation solutions for a wide range of industries, including petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.
The collaboration aims to integrate LG CNS's AI and AX consulting expertise with Honeywell’s controller and sensor technologies to deliver advanced manufacturing solutions. For instance, LG CNS's 'AI Problem Solving Agent' can analyze equipment data collected from Honeywell's distributed control systems (DCS) in real-time, enabling early problem detection and providing automatic cause analysis and response strategies.
The two companies plan to develop an integrated manufacturing AX platform encompassing the entire production process. Initially, this will involve the joint creation of next-generation Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) applicable to industries such as semiconductors, batteries, and petrochemicals. LG CNS intends to introduce a novel form of MES that integrates management of every manufacturing stage based on AI technologies, including production planning, quality control, and material flow.
Additionally, LG CNS is leveraging successful cases from its ongoing 'AI 100 in 100' program in the production and logistics sectors to identify new manufacturing AX business opportunities. Notably, their 'AI Agent' service, which analyzes factory layouts and associated risk factors to provide predictive insights, stands out as a key application.
The 'AI 100 in 100' initiative aims to lower AI adoption barriers for enterprise clients by developing 100 generative AI services within 100 days. This program, launched earlier this year, has already seen over 200 successful implementations, drawing significant attention.
LG CNS and Honeywell plan to extend their collaborative efforts beyond the U.S., reaching into major manufacturing markets such as Europe, leveraging Honeywell’s extensive global customer network.
Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS, stated, “This collaboration is a meaningful first step towards jointly leading digital transformation in the U.S. manufacturing industry. With our accumulated AI and smart factory expertise, LG CNS is committed to delivering differentiated manufacturing AX solutions to global clients.”
