LS Electric is stepping up efforts to tap into the rapidly growing power demand in the ASEAN region, driven by increased investments from global big-tech companies in data centers and manufacturing sector policies.
From July 16 to 18, LS Electric will participate in ELECS Vietnam 2025 at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, operating a 16-booth exhibition space covering 144 square meters—the largest at the event. Under the theme "The Future of Energy in Vietnam Shaped by LS Electric," the company will showcase four dedicated zones: Smart Power Management, Carbon Neutrality (RE100), Digital Transformation (DX), and Smart Factory solutions.
At the event, LS Electric will highlight its cutting-edge power solutions centered around locally tailored products such as next-generation power management systems, energy storage systems (ESS), smart distribution solutions, and smart ultra-high-voltage transformers. These showcase the company’s strong technological capabilities and supply reliability in the global power solutions industry.
Particularly notable is LS Electric’s independently developed next-generation ESS platform, which leverages core power conversion technologies and the company’s extensive manufacturing expertise in industrial power electronics. Its modular design, based on Power Electronic Building Blocks (PEBB), enables 200kW units to operate independently, facilitating smarter and more flexible energy management.
Additionally, the exhibition will feature customer-focused digital energy optimization solutions including the Smart Management Insight (SMI) digital twin-based smart factory platform, Asset Management System (AMS), GridSol CUBE energy efficiency platform, and GridSol CARE integrated power management platform.
An advanced smart safety management platform, LS SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) with AI, specifically developed for Vietnam’s manufacturing sites, will also be unveiled. This AI-based safety monitoring solution integrates smart safety devices and CCTV systems to enable real-time safety situation analysis.
LS Electric plans to further accelerate its ASEAN market expansion, mainly focusing on Vietnam and Indonesia. Since first entering Vietnam in the mid-1990s as the pioneer Korean electric power equipment provider, LS Electric now holds over 40% market share in low-voltage electrical devices and has maintained its No. 1 position since 2013.
Last year, the company inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Yen Phong Industrial Park, Binh Duong Province, doubling local production capacity from $25 million to $40 million annually. Its acquisition of Indonesia’s Symphos has expanded its business scope beyond low-voltage equipment into high-end products such as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and comprehensive power system solutions.
Vietnam’s government, in its recently revised 8th Power Development Plan (PDP8) announced in April, has set more ambitious targets for renewable energy sources like solar and offshore wind, while proactively pursuing smart grid development.
Meanwhile, major global tech giants such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, and Microsoft have announced plans to invest over $10 billion in data centers across ASEAN. As a result, the region’s power infrastructure investment is expected to surge from approximately $56 billion in 2025 to $273 billion by 2030.
A LS Electric spokesperson commented, “Having established Vietnam as Korea’s third-largest power market, we are committed to strengthening our leadership position locally and showcasing our capabilities across ASEAN. Building on high-end products like transformers and ESS, and through bold local investments, we aim to accelerate turning ASEAN into a global data center hub.”
