Vancouver, Canada -- The overseas voting for South Korea's 21st presidential election is set to begin in one week. Voting stations in Vancouver and Calgary will operate according to local time schedules, and guidance on how to participate and important considerations is being provided.

The Vancouver voting station will be open from May 20th (Tuesday) to May 25th (Sunday) in the Consulate General's main conference room (1090 West Georgia St, Suite 1600) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A total of 7,314 voters have registered here, making it the largest in Canada and seventh-largest globally among overseas polling stations. This is approximately 2,000 more voters than in the previous 20th presidential election. In Calgary, the voting station will operate from May 22nd (Thursday) to May 24th (Saturday) in the main hall of the Korean Canadian Cultural Association (7008 Farrell Rd SE) during the same hours.

Only voters who have enrolled on the electoral register through the Overseas Absentee Report or Overseas Voter Registration can participate in the voting. It is advisable to confirm your registration on the list after pre-reporting. Voters must bring an accepted form of identification, such as a passport, resident registration card, driver's license, or government-issued ID, along with original nationality verification documents (visa or permanent resident card).

The voting process involves receiving a ballot and return envelope, selecting a candidate in the voting booth, and sealing the ballot in the envelope. Photography within the voting station is strictly prohibited in accordance with election law provisions.

Due to the anticipated increase in voter turnout—more than doubling since the last election—the Vancouver Overseas Election Commission expects congestion. Therefore, it is recommended that you visit on weekdays and use public transportation, as parking is not available at the Vancouver Consulate General voting station.
