SK Telecom (SKT) is teaming up with a global data company to enhance its AI intelligence capabilities. This collaboration is expected to create positive synergies, especially in refining the upcoming 'AI Market Intelligence' platform, scheduled for release this year.

On April 3, SKT announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kpler, a company that provides data on commodities and logistics. This partnership aims to enhance market information utilization and analysis expertise based on AI technology.

The signing ceremony took place on April 2 at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, attended by Jean Maynier, co-founder and chairman of Kpler.

Kpler is a global data company that provides comprehensive trade-related information, helping companies make efficient and accurate decisions. It offers real-time insights across more than 40 markets, including crude oil, gas, dry bulk, cargo, power, and shipping, to traders, analysts, and maritime experts. This supports accurate decision-making, operational optimization, and the discovery of new opportunities in global trade.

Through this partnership, SKT plans to maximize synergies by combining Kpler’s market expertise data with its multi-LLM (large language model)-based AI agents and data collection, processing, and integrated analysis platform.

The plan is to support proactive corporate decision-making by linking data between the two companies using Model Context Protocol (MCP) technology. SK Telecom also plans to apply its own LLM 'A.Dot X 4.0' in the future.

MCP is a protocol that links large language models (LLM) with external data sources to exchange necessary information in real time.

As a result, SKT's co-developed 'AI Market Intelligence' platform with SK C&C is gaining momentum. AI Market Intelligence is an AI B2B service that enhances verified financial market analysis models with AI to predict commodity trends such as LPG, LNG, and oil prices.

The AI Market Intelligence platform is expected to provide AI models that support market predictions for various industries, including energy, chemicals, semiconductors, and batteries.

AI Market Intelligence is set to launch in the first half of this year, initially available to SK member companies, followed by a gradual expansion to external clients.

“By strengthening AI Market Intelligence’s performance in the energy market through this collaboration with Kpler, we can enhance the business competitiveness of SK member companies,” said an official from SKT.

"This MOU with Kpler will be an opportunity to elevate our market information analysis capabilities and insights," said Shin Yong-sik, Vice President of SKT's AIX Business. "We will enhance the completeness of the AI Market Intelligence platform scheduled for release this year and explore various business opportunities."

“Kpler, with its unique capabilities in commodity and logistics analysis, looks forward to contributing to SK Group’s Market Intelligence and creating more collaboration opportunities,” said Jean Maynier, Chairman of Kpler.
