On June 4, SK AX announced that it has been designated as an Onboarding Service Provider (OSP) by Cofinity-X, the operating company of Europe's largest automotive supply chain ESG data network, Catena-X.
As an Onboarding Service Provider, SK AX is tasked with assisting companies aiming to join the Catena-X ecosystem by providing comprehensive technical and procedural support for seamless ESG data integration and system access.
This recognition not only affirms SK AX's role as a key partner in the global ESG digital ecosystem but also signifies the company's strategic positioning to lead the market in transitioning ESG into a technology-driven AI Transformation (AX) business.
Catena-X is a global automotive ESG data alliance established by 10 major corporations, including SAP, Siemens, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Its goal is to connect and standardize crucial data, including carbon emissions, throughout the product lifecycle, thereby promoting digital transformation and sustainability across the industry.
Through its OSP status, SK AX will serve as a comprehensive partner, guiding companies interested in joining the Catena-X ecosystem. This includes facilitating Catena-X participation registration, ensuring carbon data integrity, providing guidelines for data sovereignty, security, and privacy, and suggesting business applications needed for data management. SK AX will also support sustainable operations, training, and maintenance, thereby driving the practical ESG transition for global manufacturing companies.
The carbon emission data management platform developed by Glassdome, which is jointly operated by SK AX in Korea, has been recognized as an official business application within the Catena-X ecosystem. This platform automates the collection of carbon emission data across the entire lifecycle, from raw material extraction to production, distribution, use, and disposal. It generates reports in accordance with ISO 14067 standards, facilitating ESG disclosures and compliance with global regulations. This platform has been certified as compliant with the carbon footprint data calculation standards required by Catena-X, marking it as the first certified platform of its kind in Korea.
Moving forward, SK AX plans to focus on supply chain traceability for managing product lifecycle data, targeting global automotive manufacturers and their primary and secondary suppliers. This initiative aims to expand beyond regulatory compliance, offering a new AX ESG business model that leverages ESG data to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
Additionally, SK AX will play a leading role in developing data space guidelines for the Korea-specific Catena-X project, a joint government-private sector initiative, thus exploring new business opportunities within the domestic data ecosystem.
