Com2uS’s global esports tournament, Summoner’s War World Arena Championship 2025 (SWC2025), has seen Korean representatives SCHOLES and ZZI-SOONG securing their tickets to the Asia-Pacific Cup finals, marking another step on the world stage.
The Korea regional qualifiers for the Asia-Pacific Cup, held online on August 2 and 3, featured a fierce double-elimination format with eight competitors. SCHOLES and ZZI-SOONG emerged victorious from this challenging competition, earning their spots in the upcoming international finals.
On August 3, SCHOLES dominated in the winners’ bracket final, defeating ZDOL, a finalist from the 2017 World Finals, with a commanding 3-0 set score. This marks SCHOLES’s first appearance at the SWC finals, highlighting a significant milestone in his esports career.
The following day, August 4, saw the clash between ZZI-SOONG and ZDOL in the losers’ bracket final. The match was tightly contested, with each player securing victories in individual matches. ZZI-SOONG finally claimed victory with a solid strategy featuring fire attribute casters, earning admission to the world stage for the second time in recent years, having previously qualified in 2023.
Together, SCHOLES and ZZI-SOONG, both teammates of Team Korea and veterans of the ‘Summoner’s War Japan-Korea Super Match,’ will now represent Korea once again at the international level for the third consecutive year.
Meanwhile, the North and South America regional qualifiers were held on August 3 and 4 at 5 a.m. Korea time. U.S.-based champions BIGV and RAIGEKI advanced through the winners’ brackets, confirming their spots in the finals. LADRILLO-OS and VINNY also secured entries in the Americas Cup during the second day’s matches. Players facing elimination in the losers’ bracket will compete on August 10 for the remaining four finals tickets in a final playoff.
SWC2025 regional qualifiers will conclude by the end of August, finalizing the list of regional cup contenders. The regional cup season is set to kick off with the European Cup on September 20, followed by the Asia-Pacific Cup scheduled for October 18 in Busan.
