On July 4, Coupang announced the signing of a strategic partnership with Korea Startup Forum aimed at supporting the development of South Korea’s AI startup landscape.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony attended by Koo Tae-eon, Vice Chairman of Korea Startup Forum, and Jeon Kyung-soo, Senior Vice President of Coupang, along with other representatives from both organizations.
The collaboration details encompass joint participation in government projects to invigorate the AI industry, offering Korea Startup Forum member companies priority discounts on Coupang’s ‘Intelligent Cloud’ service, and providing support for joint R&D efforts, including systems, software, and solutions related to AI development.
Koo Tae-eon highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, “Supporting AI startups to achieve more stable growth is a critical step forward for the ecosystem.” He expressed optimism about positive impacts on Korea’s AI industry stemming from this partnership.
Kim Sung-han, CEO of Coupang’s Intelligent Cloud, pledged strong support for promising AI startups to expand globally and emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing Korea’s AI ecosystem in collaboration with Korea Startup Forum.
Coupang’s Intelligent Cloud, a cloud computing platform specializing in AI, was recently involved in government initiatives such as the ‘AI Computing Resources Utilization Enhancement Project,’ and further cooperation with public sector projects is anticipated.
