On March 28th, Nexon announced the global release of ‘The First Berserker: Khazan’, a new hardcore action RPG developed by its subsidiary, Neople.
‘Khazan’ is a single-player package game for PC (Steam) and console platforms (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S), based on the world of Neople’s popular IP, ‘Dungeon & Fighter’. The game brings Neople’s elaborate and thrilling action to the console environment, combining 3D cel animation graphics with the dramatic revenge narrative of General ‘Khazan’ for an immersive gameplay experience.
The game ensures a pleasant playing environment by optimizing performance across each platform, and it garnered attention by surpassing 1 million demo downloads. It also achieved an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam’s Early Access, ranking 4th in global sales and 1st in the ARPG genre category. It has received positive reviews with a score of 80 on Metacritic from critics.
In ‘Khazan’, players take on the role of General ‘Khazan’ to carry out a revenge plot, engaging in 40 missions and sub-missions, and enjoying dynamic combat by linking weapons and skills. The game offers a deep storyline with different endings based on the player’s chosen path.
The released version includes system improvements and balance patches based on user feedback. For example, the difficulty of the boss monster ‘Viper’ has been adjusted, weapon skill balance improved, and buff effects in the ‘Easy’ mode have been enhanced to allow for a smoother gameplay experience.
To commemorate the official release, Nexon unveiled a new trailer on their official YouTube channel, showcasing Khazan’s powerful action and the thrilling boss battles. They also revealed the key visual image of ‘Ozma’, a character accused of rebellion.
Yoon Myung-jin, the Executive Producer of ‘Khazan’, stated, “It’s a new feeling to finally present our first single-player package game after numerous tests and feedback analyses. We’ve poured our heart into delivering a high-quality hardcore action RPG that global players anticipate, and we hope many will play it.”
Meanwhile, to celebrate the release of ‘Khazan’, Nexon is offering official merchandise at special discount prices from March 28 to April 13 in the ‘DNF Universe Store’ within ‘Nexon Essentials’. The merchandise includes ‘Khazan’ desk pads, posters, acrylic character stands, and stickers.
Additionally, starting at noon on March 28, the official ‘Khazan’ OST album will be released on music sites domestically and internationally. The album features a total of 22 tracks, including themes for each boss character and the main character ‘Khazan’. The ending theme, ‘Stories End’, is based on the ‘Character Selection Screen BGM’ from ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ and was created in collaboration with the globally renowned music production team 2WEI, encapsulating a unique narrative.
