Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) has established Korea's first advanced healthcare facility and proposed a future residential solution aimed at extending the healthy lifespan of its residents.
On April 28, Hyundai E&C stated that it has created a prototype facility for its future-oriented health housing, called the 'All-Life Care House,' located at its Technical Research Institute in Mabuk-dong, Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. The company is now in full swing for commercialization, equipped with cutting-edge technology and specialized personnel.
The All-Life Care House integrates healthcare technology being developed by Hyundai E&C and offers a variety of solutions, including a 'Wellness Solution' that manages sleep, exercise, and mental health; a 'Medical Solution' that enables immediate response in emergencies by connecting to hospitals; and a 'Health Living Solution' that optimizes living conditions by controlling temperature, humidity, air quality, water, and light. Hyundai has designed the prototype to replicate the apartment size and conditions similar to those found in real living environments, allowing for practical research.
Through this facility, Hyundai E&C plans to develop and validate various wellness solutions, including specialized management of sleep care in bedrooms, emergency response systems across bathrooms and residences, clean living environments to promote comfort, medical care that incorporates remote consultations, and exercise management supported by AI diagnostics and coaching.
Additionally, the company is developing a solution that uses motion-detecting sensors to automatically alert a medical center in emergencies such as falls or cardiac arrest, as well as monitoring movements and heart rates during sleep to quickly detect warning signs. The addition of personalized exercise recommendation services is expected to promote active management that extends the healthy lifespan of residents within their homes.
The prototype facility will also conduct effective evaluation and clinical trials for smart sleep environment solutions that analyze residents' sleep patterns and adjust conditions accordingly, in collaboration with external specialized organizations. Recently, Hyundai E&C has expanded its cooperation with promising domestic tech startups, including the sleep-tech startup A-Sleep, to lay the groundwork for developing smart sleep living environments.
A representative from Hyundai E&C said, “As society faces rapid changes such as an aging population and the increase in single-person households, the role of homes is evolving beyond mere residence to provide hyper-personalized care. We plan to realize a wellness living environment that keeps residents healthy with various healthcare solutions, while also offering high-end residential products that innovate the intrinsic value of homes, including projects like the redevelopment in Apgujeong.”
