Seoul, November 25, 2024 – DataStreams, a leading data management and analytics company in South Korea, is making significant strides toward global market expansion. Following the establishment of its joint venture in Malaysia this past April, the company is actively pursuing potential business collaboration opportunities to support Malaysia’s digital transformation journey. 

On November 25, DataStreams attended the "2024 Malaysia-Korea Business Forum" held at the prestigious Shilla Hotel in Seoul, the event was graced by The Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, The Executive Chairman of Malaysian Communication & Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Mr. Tan Sri Mohamad Salim, The Minister of Science Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), Mr. Chang Lih Kang and other Malaysian delegates. It was attended by over 100 companies, with around 300 participants eager to explore bilateral business opportunities.

During the Q&A session with Prime Minister Anwar, Dr. Suvashis Das, Global Business Director at DataStreams, sought advice about the correct approach to engage in Malaysia’s MyDigital plan. In response, the Prime Minister expressed Malaysia’s strong commitment to fostering a digital economy and emphasized the importance of reducing the digital divide in a rapidly evolving digital society. He further suggested that DataStreams engage in follow-up discussions with key Malaysian government agencies, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), to explore collaborative efforts for digital transformation.

In a subsequent discussion with Minister Chang, DataStreams CEO Young-sang Lee expressed his support for Malaysia’s initiatives to introduce a national digital ID and develop super apps. He highlighted the importance of consistent data management and utilization for the successful implementation of these initiatives. Lee also noted that as Malaysia embraces digital transformation and AI technologies, the need for independent and advanced data utilization capabilities will become increasingly critical for Malaysia’s digital future.

DataStreams' engagement at the forum and subsequent invitations for further dialogue with Malaysian authorities underscore the company's strategic vision and potential for growth in Malaysia. As DataStreams prepares for detailed discussions in Malaysia, the company is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing digital solutions that will empower businesses and communities, fostering a future-ready Malaysian society and reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in the global digital landscape.
