HS Hyosung Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang has actively begun efforts to ensure the successful hosting of the upcoming APEC Summit.
On May 22, Cho attended the 7th APEC Preparatory Committee Meeting held at the Government Complex Seoul, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho. Representing ABAC (APEC Business Advisory Council) as its chair, Cho shared future plans and strategies.
Cho emphasized Korea's role as the host country, stating, “We aim to directly convey the voices of businesses to leaders from various nations and achieve tangible results. Korea’s leadership will focus on producing practical outcomes, such as revitalizing the APEC Business Travel Card.”
He further added, “We will strive to create meaningful messages for the summit, such as a ‘Gyeongju Declaration’ or ‘Korea Declaration,’ to mark a significant turning point in APEC’s history.”
Cho also appealed for government cooperation to reflect the ABAC proposals adopted during this year’s APEC summit into domestic policies. He urged active support to ensure that the key issues proposed are widely disseminated among member countries.
Looking ahead, Cho plans to preside over the 3rd and 4th ABAC meetings scheduled for July in Vietnam and October in Busan, respectively. He also intends to directly deliver the discussions from these meetings to world leaders at the October APEC summit in Gyeongju.
Through his leadership in these preparations, Cho Hyun-sang is expected to elevate Korea’s corporate stature on the global stage and serve as a vital bridge for sustainable cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.
