San Francisco, CA – June 2, 2025 – LuminX, an AI company focused on inventory automation and visibility, today announced the closure of its $5.5 million seed funding round. The investment will support the development and deployment of solutions designed to improve operations in the logistics and warehousing industry.

The seed round was supported by investors including 1Sharpe, GTMFund, 9Yards, Chingona Ventures, and the Bond Fund.

LuminX aims to address key inefficiencies in supply chain and warehouse management that contribute to high operational costs and errors. The company is developing Vision Language Models (VLMs) that can be deployed directly on low-cost mobile hardware within warehouses. This approach makes advanced AI more accessible for a wider range of operational environments.

The LuminX systems integrate visual understanding with generative AI capabilities, allowing cameras to interpret dynamic warehouse environments in real time. They can recognize products and labels, assess package conditions, and track movement. These devices are versatile enough to be deployed in various locations within a warehouse, such as docks, conveyors, on forklifts, or as handheld units. The system processes visual information to automate operational tasks, reduce manual work, and provide data to minimize discrepancies and optimize workflow.

LuminX is led by founder and CEO Alex Kaveh Senemar, an experienced entrepreneur with a background in scaling AI companies. Previously, he founded Voxel, an AI company focused on warehouse safety and operations, and Sherbit, which was acquired by Huma in 2019. He is joined by co-founder and CTO Reza (Mamrez) Javanmardi, Ph.D., former Head of AI Research at Voxel, who brings extensive research and development experience in machine learning and computer vision.

The team at LuminX has strong expertise in AI, including Vision Language Models, computer vision, and robotics, with several members associated with institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University. Participation in the funding round also included previous investors in Voxel and existing customers, reflecting continued confidence in LuminX's approach.

"With this funding, we can scale our AI models to improve warehouse operations," said Alex Kaveh Senemar. "Our edge-based vision language models offer enhanced automation and insight, helping transform opaque processes into more efficient systems."

Early adopters are already integrating the technology into their operations. Robert Bascom, COO of Vertical Cold Storage, noted that the technology has helped automate critical tasks, enhance quality, and reduce claims. Similarly, Kat Collins of 1Sharpe Capital observed that deploying vision-language models on the edge addresses challenges in labor and data management, significantly improving operational intelligence and efficiency.

The new funds will be used to advance research and development in Vision Language Models for logistics, optimize these models for edge deployment, expand specialized engineering talent, and scale go-to-market efforts.
