SK hynix has successfully completed customer certification for its next-generation memory technology, the CXL 2.0 DDR5 Memory Module (CMM-DDR5), with a 96GB capacity, marking a significant entry into the high-performance and high-efficiency server market.
The certified product is a DRAM solution based on CXL (Compute Express Link) 2.0 technology, featuring a 50% increase in capacity and over 30% enhancement in bandwidth compared to existing DDR5 memory. With a data processing capability of 36GB per second, this product is designed to maximize operational efficiency and performance in large-scale data centers while effectively reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
SK hynix is also in the process of completing customer certification for a 128GB model, which incorporates the latest 10nm-class 5th generation (1b) process technology with 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, boasting excellent performance efficiency (performance per watt).
Furthermore, SK hynix is not only advancing hardware technology development but is also making strides in revitalizing the CXL ecosystem. Their proprietary heterogeneous memory optimization software tool, HMSDK (Heterogeneous Memory Software Development Kit), enhances system efficiency in CXL memory environments by expanding bandwidth and offering data reallocation features. This tool was officially integrated into the Linux kernel in September 2023.

This achievement is an important milestone that indicates the practical introduction of CXL-based memory technology, positioning SK hynix to further strengthen its technological leadership in the future memory market.
