Coreline Soft announced on June 20th that it has been chosen as the final implementing agency for the ‘AI-Based Medical System Digital Transformation Support Project’ organized by the Korea Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency. The initiative is set to run over two years, with a total project budget of 2.32 billion KRW. The company will begin by focusing on the current year’s activities, successfully expanding into the network of public medical institutions.

This AI-driven medical system digital transformation project aims to conduct AI-based lung cancer screenings at six hospitals in the Chungcheong Province, including Seosan, Hongseong, Chungju, CheonAn, Cheongju, and Gongju, with 6,000 participants in the first year. By 2026, the plan is to extend this screening to ten hospitals, reaching 10,000 individuals. The overarching goal is to incorporate AI results into clinical decision-making and standardize the screening protocol across participating institutions.

Coreline Soft will deploy the country’s first ‘4-in-1’ thoracic AI diagnostic platform in this project. This AI platform can detect lung nodules, masses, coronary artery calcification (CAC), COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), and various structural abnormalities simultaneously using a single low-dose chest CT scan. This technology significantly improves both the speed and accuracy of diagnoses. The company aims to establish a standard for AI-based public healthcare and expand the supply of their AI platforms through this project.

Drawing on clinical experience and trust gained from numerous lung cancer screening projects in Germany, Italy, and other countries, Coreline Soft was ultimately selected as the project partner. Their AI platform can be used not only for screening but also for diagnosis and treatment decision-making. This enables patients to receive precise medical examinations and treatments at regional hospitals without needing to visit large medical centers.

Kim Jin-guk, CEO of Coreline Soft, expressed optimism: “The 4-in-1 AI system enables early detection, immediate diagnosis, and personalized treatment all at once. This can help secure critically timed interventions, especially in regions with limited medical access.” He added, “This initiative will further elevate the efficiency and capacity of public medical facilities nationwide.”

Additionally, Kim announced plans to expand application of their AI platform to various public healthcare institutions across the country, leveraging clinical data accumulated during the project. He also highlighted the platform’s capabilities to respond proactively to the surging demand for chest CT analysis—such as aftereffects of COVID-19 or increased needs among industry workers—using automated AI detection systems.
