LG Display announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2025, reporting consolidated revenue of KRW 5.587 trillion and an operating loss of KRW 116 billion.

For the first half of the year, LG Display posted revenue of KRW 11.652 trillion and an operating loss of KRW 826 billion. Compared to the same period last year (revenue KRW 11.962 trillion, operating loss KRW 563.1 billion), revenue declined by 3%, but the operating deficit improved by KRW 480.5 billion. This positive momentum reflects the company's progress in advancing its OLED-centric business structure, cost structure improvements, and operational efficiency, indicating a potential turnaround in annual performance.

Despite being a typical low-demand period prior to new product launches in the second quarter, which generally results in decreased earnings, LG Display managed to achieve a net profit of KRW 8.89 billion. This was driven by gains from foreign exchange improvements due to currency fluctuations and proceeds from the sale of its stake in the Guangzhou LCD factory, among other factors.

EBITDA before interest and taxes for the quarter reached KRW 1.053 trillion, with an operating margin of 18.9%. The product segment breakdown showed: 20% for TV panels, 42% for IT panels (monitors, laptops, tablets), 28% for mobile panels and other products, and 10% for automotive panels.

Notably, OLED products, which account for 56% of total revenue, increased by 4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The company continues to expand its business performance based on strengthened OLED technology competitiveness. LG Display also maintains its focus on cost innovation and operational efficiency to ensure financial stability.

In the small and medium-sized display sector, LG Display is strengthening its competitiveness in the high-end market through its durable, high-brightness, low-power tandem OLED technology and its solid supply capabilities for smartphone panels. For large displays, the company plans to solidify its premium leadership with a lineup of differentiated products, including 4th-generation OLED panels utilizing ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ technology for OLED TVs, and gaming monitors featuring industry-leading brightness, refresh rates, and response times.

The automotive display segment aims to continuously create customer value by leveraging core strengths such as large size, high resolution, reliability, durability, and low power consumption.

Kim Seong-hyun, Chief Financial Officer of LG Display, stated, “Performance across the OLED business is expected to grow significantly in the second half, leading to a rapid recovery in earnings.” He added, “By continuing cost innovations and operational efficiency improvements, we are strengthening our stable profit base. Additionally, our financial restructuring is progressing faster than initially planned, so we anticipate meaningful results both in performance and finances this year.”
