Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) participated in the 2025 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Annual Meeting held in Chicago from June 15 to 18, showcasing the excellence of Korea’s nuclear research and development (R&D) capabilities, the company announced on June 18.
Organized by the American Nuclear Society, this event is the largest international conference in the nuclear sector, attracting leading nuclear nations including those from Europe and Japan. During the conference, KHNP garnered significant attention by presenting its nuclear export model, APR1000, which has been exported to Czech Republic, as well as its innovative small modular reactor (SMR) technology, the i-SMR, which is drawing the interest of major global tech companies.
In addition, KHNP operated a dedicated digital exhibition booth, actively promoting the safety and economic benefits of large nuclear power plants. The booth also explained in detail Korea’s nuclear export background and competitive advantages to nuclear industry experts from around the world. Furthermore, KHNP unveiled its SmartNetZero City (SSNC) model based on SMR technology, laying the groundwork for entering the global SMR market.
Shingo Cheol Shin, Director of KHNP’s central research institute, stated, “KHNP will continue to expand international technological cooperation, lead innovation in nuclear R&D, and contribute to the development of our national industry.”
