SK Hynix is reinforcing its position as a leading provider of AI infrastructure worldwide while actively developing an AI ecosystem to support its internal digital transformation. At the core of this initiative is ‘GaiA’ (Generative AI Assistant), a specialized generative AI platform tailored for semiconductor operations.
The company is rolling out an AI platform centered on ‘GaiA’ and various services in stages to accelerate AI-driven efficiency and innovation across its organization, aiming to implement a comprehensive AI transformation (AIX).
Customized Semiconductor AI Platform ‘GaiA’ with Department-specific AI Agents
‘GaiA’ is a generative AI platform optimized for semiconductor manufacturing processes, developed to enhance employee creativity and productivity. It enables the creation of tailored AI agents for each department and task, incorporating a ‘human-in-the-loop’ feedback system to refine workflows.
In July, SK Hynix publicly launched four ‘business-specific AI agents’ focusing on equipment maintenance, global policy analysis, HR policies, and meeting support. These services are currently being applied in production and mass production environments, receiving positive feedback.
Additionally, in early August, the company began pilot testing ‘LLM Chat,’ an internal generative AI service accessible to employees. Operating within the company’s secure network, it supports internal knowledge-based inquiries to assist daily work tasks.
SK Telecom and SK Hynix are also jointly developing ‘A.Biz,’ a universal AI assistant set to launch in November. This service will support report writing, meeting minutes, and specialized tasks such as procurement, recruitment, and tax accounting.

Advancing AI Technologies with a Clear Roadmap and Progressing Toward Agent-to-Agent Collaboration
SK Hynix is sequentially upgrading its generative AI platform and services in accordance with its internal roadmap. The plan for 2023 includes the adoption of native RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) and Large Language Models (LLMs); 2024 focuses on integrating AI agents and tools; and by 2025, the company aims to realize ‘agent-centric AI’ with agent orchestration capabilities in the latter half of the year.
The ‘business-specific’ services introduced this year exemplify ‘agent-centric AI,’ where multiple role-specific agents can autonomously resolve complex tasks. The company intends to further enhance this system into an A2A (Agent to Agent) collaboration platform, allowing agents to coordinate and solve problems collaboratively through advanced ‘agent orchestration’ technology.

Future plans include unifying all GaiA-based AI services—such as LLM Chat, A.Biz, and specialized agents—and creating a smart factory that connects all systems within its fabs.
Since establishing Korea’s first data science team in 2017, SK Hynix has embedded a data-driven decision-making culture throughout its organization. In 2024, it plans to establish a dedicated AI transformation team to solidify its AI-driven business innovation.
A company representative stated, “Generative AI technology is rapidly becoming a core driver of innovation across the semiconductor industry, beyond just a tool,” adding, “This year, we will focus on advancing agent-centric AI and building collaborative systems among agents to pioneer a new era of AI innovation.”
SK Hynix plans to release additional details and concrete implementation cases for its GaiA-based AI services through its news platform in the coming months.
