The upcoming generation of AI-driven logistics innovators gathered to showcase their robot technologies at the ‘2025 WCRC (World Creative Robot Contest) Logistics Robot Competition,’ successfully hosted by Coupang Fulfillment Service (CFS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), announced CFS on May 1.

Held over two days, from May 29 to 30 at the Korea Polytechnics Yeongnam Convergence Technology Campus in Daegu, the competition saw the participation of approximately 100 teams from high schools and universities nationwide, engaging in intense competition.

The contest featured two main categories designed to simulate real-world logistics environments: ‘Sorting Logistics Robot’ and ‘Transport Logistics Robot.’ On the first day, participants competed in an automated sorting mission utilizing computer vision technology to recognize colors and sequences. The second day focused on RFID-based intelligent logistics transport missions.

Awardees received over 20 honors, including the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the Patent Office Director Award, and the President of Coupang Fulfillment Service Award. Notably, the winning teams earned the opportunity to represent Korea at the world’s largest robotics competition, Robogames, held at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in August 2025.

Hyeon-wook Jeong, a student from Korea Tech (Korea University of Technology and Education), who was awarded the Minister of Science and ICT Award with his team ‘KoreaTech Cup,’ shared, “Fine-tuning robot sensor values to adapt to lighting and shadow conditions in the arena was crucial. I aspire to become a versatile robot expert integrating AI and other cutting-edge technologies.”

Soo-bin Park of the ‘Smart Sorting’ team at Korea Polytechnic University, who received the Coupang Fulfillment Service President's Award, expressed her gratitude: “Despite some small mistakes, we achieved great results. Since the award comes from Coupang, it makes it even more meaningful. I want to lead innovative logistics in the future.”

This competition marked the first time CFS actively participated as the organizer of a logistics robot contest. Additionally, winners received extra points for future employment at Coupang, drawing significant attention from participants.

Jong-cheol Jeong, CEO of CFS, delivered a closing speech, stating, “I believe everyone here will become the future leaders of Korea’s logistics industry. We will support the winners with practical hiring assistance so they can lead Coupang’s AI-based logistics systems.”

Meanwhile, CFS continues to advance logistics innovation by implementing automation technologies across its fulfillment centers nationwide. The company introduces solutions such as the Random Stow system, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), sorting robots, and robotic arms to enhance operational efficiency and create a safer, smarter working environment.
