Ourhome, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of Korea and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), announced on August 13 that they hosted a "Korean Cuisine Day" event in Poland.
Held on August 8, the event took place in the cafeteria of a global manufacturing company in Wrocław, Poland. In celebration of "Malbok," a traditional Korean festival marking the last of the three hottest days of summer, the event catered 1,300 servings of samgyetang and complementary dishes to local employees.
This initiative is part of a memorandum of cooperation signed in December last year between Ourhome and aT, aiming to expand the overseas reach of K-food in group catering services and create export opportunities for domestic agricultural products. By featuring authentic Korean dishes centered around samgyetang, a renowned Korean health food, the event sought to introduce the allure of Korean culinary culture to Eastern Europe and lay the groundwork for expanding exports of Korean agricultural and food products.
The menu included six traditional dishes: samgyetang, rice, spicy stir-fried pork, kimchi pancakes, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and fresh kimchi. The event also showcased the Korean tradition of "bokdallim," where hot and nutritious meals are enjoyed to beat the summer heat. Local employees praised the meal, commenting, "The hot, nutritious food helps overcome the heat" and "The various dishes served alongside samgyetang were harmonious."
Following the "K-Food Day" event held in Monterrey, Mexico last December, Ourhome is intensifying its efforts to spread K-food within the global group catering market through this Polish event. Ourhome currently operates around 100 international catering outlets in regions including North America, Europe, and Asia, consistently developing and introducing K-food menus tailored to local culinary tastes.
An Ourhome representative stated, "Samgyetang is not just a health food; it's a dish infused with Korean tradition and sincerity, receiving a warm reception from local employees. We plan to actively expand our global group catering business to bring K-food, based on domestic agricultural products, to tables worldwide in cooperation with aT."
Ourhome and aT also plan to continue their collaboration, focusing on group catering channels to advance the globalization of K-food.
