Dong-A ST announced on August 13 that it has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) to actively pursue the implementation of international standards for sustainable management. The company held a ceremony to present the membership certificate.
By joining UNGC, Dong-A ST aims to embed the organization’s 10 principles related to human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption into its management activities. The company also plans to work diligently towards achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Furthermore, Dong-A ST will submit annual Progress Reports (Communication on Progress, CoP), sharing its sustainability efforts and results with stakeholders to continually enhance transparency and accountability.
The UNGC is the world’s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative, encouraging companies to incorporate its 10 core principles into their operations and strategies. These principles focus on human rights, labor, environmental sustainability, and anti-corruption efforts. Currently, over 25,000 companies and organizations across 167 countries participate in the initiative.
The SDGs, adopted at the 2015 United Nations General Assembly, set 17 goals with 169 specific targets to end poverty and promote sustainable development globally by 2030. The SDGs encompass social inclusion, economic growth, and environmental sustainability, grounded in human-centered values.
Since 2018, Dong-A ST has achieved ISO 37001 certification for anti-bribery management systems and was re-certified in 2024. Its production facilities at Songdo, Cheonan, and Daegu campuses have also earned ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system certifications, further accelerating its commitment to sustainability.
In addition, Dong-A ST published its first sustainability report titled "ON", detailing its strategic initiatives, key activities, and achievements related to sustainability. The report aims to strengthen trust and communication with all stakeholders.
Jeon Yu-chul, Secretary General of the UN Global Compact Korea Network, stated, “Health and well-being are central priorities of the SDGs, and the importance of the healthcare industry is increasingly recognized. I hope Dong-A ST’s membership will help discover unique ESG values and contribute to the successful achievement of the SDGs.”
Jung Jae-hoon, President of Dong-A ST, expressed, “Joining the UNGC reflects our commitment to strengthening our role as a responsible corporate citizen aligned with global sustainability standards. We will continue to systematically practice sustainable management and strive to create sustainable value in accordance with international guidelines.”
